FREE WORKSHOP by Chance McGee: Using caricature to communicate ideas

Thu, Aug 4, 04:00 PM UTC

Caricature is an artform that has been around for centuries. It is a way of making a message more personal and more memorable by exaggerating the features of the subject. In this course, caricaturist Chance McGee will cover the basics of caricature, including how to capture likeness quickly, how to exaggerate features for effect and how to incorporate caricature into your work. He will also explore how caricature can be used to personalize your message and make it more engaging. If you're looking to add a bit of personality to your artwork, caricature is definitely a great way to do it! It involves exaggerating features to create a likeness that is both recognizable and unique. By the end of this course, you will know what skills you need to create caricature illustrations that are both funny and thought-provoking.

Chance McGee is a live caricature artist, illustrator and animator who has worked for 20 years as a professional artist. He has done work for Netflix, AMD, and Six Flags over Texas to name a few. His style is a unique blend of fine expressive linework that comes from a mastery of speed and understanding of volume while incorporating funny stories into the caricatures of the people he draws. He uses caricature as a means to add personal value for his clients, “a good story becomes great when the viewer is a part of it.”
