How to use this template

The traditional SWOT 2x2 diagram is an effective way for a group to collect and analyse information about strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats... but many teams get overly familiar with this as a method. They don't use it, and so miss out on the strategic benefits that this method can get them.

The SWOT Yacht is a novel take on this method, and uses the metaphor of a boat to help a group think in a fresh way about strategic advantages. You can use this either within Drawify, or export it as an image and use it as a background within your collaboration canvas of choice (e.g. Mural or Miro), for a group to capture and discuss their thoughts about each quadrant.

Once each quadrant is completed, the team should review and prioritize the items with the highest potential for impact. You should exit this as an activity with a clear small set of advantages to leverage for whatever strategy you come up with.

Outcomes

- Increased team productivity and efficiency
- Improved communication and collaboration among team members
- Better identification and utilization of team strengths and opportunities
- More effective management of team weaknesses and threats
- Enhanced team morale, engagement and retention

PRO TIP

Try changing up the metaphor (and even ask the group what other metaphors come to mind), and change the image in Drawify of a yacht and water to something else. For example: a cruise liner or Viking longboat... or a bus or train...? Or a hot air balloon? Or a rocket?

Customize the layout, content, and colors of this template, or swap elements for others to match your purpose.
