Good leaders are not always good speakers, but excellent leaders are.
What does it take to be an excellent speaker? It’s simple… you need three things: great content, excellent delivery AND powerful visuals
On her workshop last week, Nancy Rademaker, inspired us through her own experiences as a speaker, wearing three hats: one as a professional speaker, one as a speaker coach and one as the cofounder of Drawify.
In the recording of the webinar, you will learn how to become a better speaker.
Have you ever heard about the forgetting curve? In 7 days, we only remember 10% of what we have been told. That is why she recommends focusing on that 10% from the very beginning: what you want people to remember? It is very important to start strong, the first thirty seconds are crucial.
Another important aspect is the delivery: HOW we present it. We learned about facial and body expressions… Our whole appearance makes the difference during a speech. Looking the audience in the eye, instead of looking at the monitor, using different parts of the stage to represent and say different things… It’s all about making gestures bigger than we usually do. Focus on our speaking: volume, intonation, pace, and pauses. Practice with Nancy with some tongue twisters!
And then, finally, the visuals. 50% of our brain is devoted to processing visual information. That’s why using visual metaphors, colors and elements of surprise can really make the difference. Nancy shows us how to make optimal use of visuals to make the content stick with your audience. Some ready-to-use examples, made in Drawify, so you can start turning this into practice right away!
